Half Gold Czech Glass Spike Set

Edgy and bold, this earrings, bracelet, and necklace set features jet (black) Czech glass spike beads coated with metallic amber gold on one side. Coordinating fire polished glass beads complete the look. Earrings measure 2-1/2″. Bracelet measures 6-1/2″ with a 1-1/2″ extender chain. Necklace measures 18″ with a 2″ extender chain.

The process artists in Czechia (formerly the Czech Republic) use to to make these glass beads is fascinating. First, jet (black) glass is pressed into a textured dagger shape. Then the bead is etched to a matte finish. Finally, a metallic coating is applied either to one side of each bead — like amber gold or Apollo (also called capri gold) — or to the entire bead — like bronze, Picasso, hematite, or silver.
